Electrification of Preston to Manchester
There is further investment and development with the electrification of the Preston to Manchester via Bolton line, which will reduce journey times to 30 minutes.
Electrification has already been completed between Manchester Victoria and Preston which allowed Trans Pennine Express to introduce new Class 350 Desiro trains. The new trains have reduced journey times, boosted seat capacity and enabled more frequent services to run between Manchester, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
